My day of Rage
Rage
Today was a rage day for me. It started out normal you know. Jump start the car (everyday I do this), commute to work (avoid potholes and wait for train). Burger King (Croissants rock), then arrive at desk and wait on spam filter. Then manually delete spam missed by my filter (Cloudmark 5 bucks a month). Make coffee with shitty granulized creamer vs. nice butter smooth liquid creamer.
Normal day.
Drive out of town for a ten minute consult with Alarm Hardware guy for VIP client. Commute back to work (total down time over one and half hours just driving there and back).
Normal day.
Return to work and go through missed emails. Ignore Voice Mail light (Be afraid. Be very afraid). Answer incessant questions from two types of people (Those that deserve answers [trainees] and those that don't [Senior and Jr. Technicians). Continue ignoring Voice Mail light. Oops missed about 20 more emails.
Normal day.
Now it's 2 PM and I’ve finally gotten caught up on my emails and Post It notes that are stuck to my cubicle. Now I start wondering how long it takes for the Voicemail light to burn out. Now I start pontificating on emails that I read but didn't really respond to yet since they so deserve a GOOD LONG Nobel Prize winning response. And yes I did get the "don't send Charles Dickens emails memo" but "It was the best of times, it was the worst of times..."
Normal day.
Checked Voice mail now and wished I hadn't. Now I start working on my Short Term Projects (Is MS Project useful to anyone out there?) Answer more questions from the crew. More emails of course. Get permission from my boss to leave early (30 minutes) which he grants since he's a great guy (Seriously Jason you rock and I'm glad your there). Commute home. Wait an incredibly long time in the Off ramp queue (too much time working in call center).
Finally get home. Kick my daughter off my computer to work on my new Cisco Router and then I find out our tap water is turned off. (Bill not paid)?
Normal Day now insert pent up Rage.
I start hurling shit, and I really start shaking in furious anger. This comes close to my World Fair Carney anger story. (Close but not quite murder someone anger). I drive to pay the bill breaking all speed laws including some
from poor third world countries. I barely make it to department of water and I have to argue with some fat government chick that hates her job, her customers, and her ever expanding waistline. I get the bill paid plus some ridiculous ass re-activation charge, after I convice her fooass that she really needs to let me in the door to pay my bill. She can close up shop after I pay my bill. How the hell do you reactivate water. It's fooking water not electricity or any other real utility. I mean Lara Ingalls Wilder had water back when wagon wheels were our Chevy Tahoe’s. Then I return home to finish working and the Rage builds some more. I left work early to get home to work some more. So goes my life.
Normal Day
Now I unpack my Cisco Router and find out that those clueless footards at CDW have shipped me a DSL Router when I needed a Cable Router. Now stop the presses I also had never before seen a Router that wasn't modem agnostic but foo me running (foo is fuck I'm trying to move away from obvious vulgarity) with a spoon. This Router which costs around 500 bucks mind you is only going to work with an RJ11 WAN port for ADSL modems. I need a different Cisco Router for Ethernet Wan not RJ11 wan. Now I bought two of these based on a buy recommendation from a technician at CDW. I've also shipped this Router to a technician who is going to be installing the whole network and computers for our Web-based application at a very large client site. Now we've got to reschedule and spend a whole of money and energy explaining how we are not (foo)tards. That’s Fuck and Retard combined minus the obvious cuss-words.
Normal Day.
There's more but I'm not going there. Now for page 2

Breathe. Breathe again. Now I'm calmer.
I was asked today by a friend of mine about different music services and the whole new paradigm in Internet based legal music procurement.
If you read my Blog regularly and I'm sure you do you'd remember that I recently acquired an Ipod Shuffle.
So below I did some searching and instead of linking to all the music services out there I'm going to link to one music service that has some great reviews posted of the various music download services.
Click here for the review of music services at MP3.com
I still haven't flexed my DRM cracking muscle yet but I'll post my results when I've finished that project.
Some good news.
I finally got my clients PC fixed that I borked up a while back. This is the machine that had no usable AGP slot. I ended up getting an off the shelf ATI Radeon PCI chipset. The PCI spec hasn't changed that much so it just worked. It's not AGP but they hardest rendering this client does is checking her AOL dial up so nuff said it's fixed but not updated since they lack an Ethernet port.
(does anyone remember exactly how far back you have to go to get a PC with no on board or add in Ethernet from a major retailer)?
I'm listening to Billy Joel right now and damn I love this Napster To Go service its 15 bucks to download all you want. You can even transfer the tunes to your USB thumb drive and bring em to work or listen to them on your MP3 player as long as it's not from the Land of Steve.
I'm done for now. Good night.
