Screw HP and the 98 horse this box rode in on!
I don't normally do this but now I'm at my wits end.
I've been working on a friends 98 box for going on probably my ninth hour now. I've been trying real hard to just fix her problem with her 98 box instead of just saying aw hell fdisk and reload. We'll now I'm ready to kill this motherfucker.
I'm going to boot and nuke it using DBAN. I love DBAN. He's one of thousands of those great little freeware apps you can find on sourceforge and he is easy to use, fits on a floppy, and does the job.
So before I go to bed I'm kicking off DBAN and erasing every motherfucking thing that's wrong with the box and tomorrow I'm starting a clean install of Windows 98.
On the flip side I've done more research on Product Keys, vs. Install Keys vs., License keys. It's confusing as hell but I've learned some things.
Basically SP2 puts the kibitz on de-hashing your install key. If you're still running Pre SP2 or older Windows OS systems then your in luck and you can just check out your HKLM>Software>Microsoft>Windows>Current Version and look for your key.
Another thing I'd like to take a stab at tonight is fucking OEM cases and motherboards. Now I have to give props to Dell since they've made their cases so easy to get into compared to some other major OEM shops like Compaq and HP. I especially hate these small form factor OEM mobo's and cases. I received at least four lacerations getting into and this case and remounting the memory and motherboard. I've never cut myself on the latest Dell cases!
My buddy John the "razor" just dropped 600 bones on www.newegg.com he's building a super gaming system from scratch with top of the line parts. We ordered a copy of Windows XP Pro OEM, an MSI NEO Platinum 64 bit socket mobo, a 64 bit AMD processor 3000, one gig of high speed memory, and a 160 Gig JB series WD hard drive (SATA). He previously bought an Antec Sonata case. I can't wait for these parts to come in so I can put this Bitch together. It's going to smoke!
A friend of mine was recently offered a chance to interview for a new position at work and I wish him the best of luck. I'm going to leave his name out of the blog post until he gives me permission to release it, since some of our co-workers read this Blog.
Work's going fine it's just going to fast. I had to start over from sector zero on my hard drive at work and it still isn't 100% up to snuff yet but It's kind of loose tooth fun getting to clean all your shit up and determine which digital junk you're going to bother with.
Anyway it's late and I'm tired so I'm going to 69 the rest of this post.
