Explaining my lack of posts lately
Long Overdue Post.
I haven't posted a real post in forever and I fell compelled to finally get back on track.
I haven't been bored but my time has been totally consumed by one thing or another. This week my entire family (minus me) came down with a viral flu like fever. My daughter was down for over six days, My son is now down and on his fifth day and my woman is on her fourth day. They all came down fast and hard. We're talking over 100 plus tempos for more than three days in most cases along with all the other flu like symptoms, fatigue/dizziness/vomit/dehydration, etc.
My son has a wicked cough that wakes him up and when he gets up he cries from the pain of the cough and lack of sleep (poor baby).
Hopefully tomorrow will be the last day that I have to take off from work to play Dr. Dad. I'm beat and exhausted also. I got my flu shot so whatever they got I've managed to avoid. Now I can just go to work and get everyone there sick (just kidding).
Beyond the pandemic at my house the only other reason I haven't been blogging is probably that I've become addicted to a MMORPG. It's called World of Warcraft. It's probably the most addictive game I've every played. The only other MMORPG's I've played were Ultima Online (long time ago) and Guild Wars. Now Ultima was rock solid cool since it was the best commercial launch of an MMORPG. They kind of launched the genre mainstream. Now I know some hard core geeks are gonna fling out their pocket protectors and want to throw down on how MUD's were way cooler and here first. I'm not going to get sucked into that argument but let me just say that WOW had all the graphics and eye candy you could want. I mean having to emote expressions in a text based mud like and are pretty lame when you compare it to what's available today.
If you've played and enjoyed MMORPG's then give WOW a try you'll be hooked. If you've never played a MMORPG but you've played other Pen and Paper classics like D&D then WOW is a great segue into the online Roleplaying world. Check it out.
I play on Kirin Tor as scoolio who is currently a 22nd Level Gnomish Mage. (Yes Richie I have your Best Buy Gift Cards)
So I guess you could blame my lack of posts lately on my WOW addiction. I have been using Xfire for awhile for my other IM Gaming needs and regrettably it tracks my online game time. It's almost bee like a second part time job. I'm disgusted by that but I can't explain how much fun I've had playing. It really brings me back to the old day of Pen and Paper roleplaying.
Quick question does your wife/girlfriend/roommate think that playing computer games online like WOW is weird/unproductive/complete waste of time/rude?
Nuff said I'm coming off as real hard core geek here and I don't want to upset my female readers who idealize me like Brad Pitt.
I really hope the family gets well enough to rejoin the living.
I hope to see/infect everyone back at work by the day after tomorrow.
I been saving a couple of links that I found interesting or amusing. Here they are below:
